About Me:

"It's all about ATTITUDE! It doesn't matter how smart we are, if we try OUR best, we'll achieve".

Hello, just a little about me;

As a History teacher, I can honestly say, I have achieved my life's goal. I decided when I was in year 8 that this is what I wanted to do. After my GCSE's, I did A'Level English Language, History and Law then going on to University to study History with American Studies. All of these experiences confirmed my love of History and finding out about other people and their cultures.

My favourite period of History is definitely the Tudor period, very closely followed by the early modern era (Medievel England). I find their way of life and their antics fascinating and by today's standards, much more scandalous. I have a bit of a soft spot for Queen Mary I, ok, they called her Bloody Mary, but she had some good bits to her!

I am currently teaching at St Clement's High School in King's Lynn, having also worked in two of the town's larger schools over the last decade, firstly at Springwood High School as Lead Teacher for Achievment for Sandringham House and KES Academy as Head of History. I love being part St Clement's and our students are a credit to themselves and our school.

Before coming to Norfolk, I trained in Liverpool gaining invaluable support and ideas from the brilliant Savio Salesian College and equally Broughton Hall High School. I will never forget my experiences at both schools and will always hold a place in my heart. I also spent a very short time at De La Salle school which was a nice way to round off my early teaching experience.

I think my teaching style is some what active, not only through Drama/Role Play, but I think it is important to actively know the characters we're learning about. This was once coined as 'Edutainment' - So be it! One of my favourite parts of teaching is getting to work with new teachers, sharing ideas and learning from them.

It's been a privilege in MANY cases to see students develop over the years and become #TudorGeeks, and go off to Uni to read History, I hope to guide many more too, just remember, Historians rule the world!

As well as teaching History, I have to say, it plays a large part in my "real" life too. I love to visit castles, Manor / Stately homes and battle field sites.

One of my main achievements since teaching was winning 'Teacher of the year', whilst it isn't really something I am a fan of as we all work hard, and being singled out isn't something I like, I am proud of it, I guess it means I am doing something right!

My ultimate aim is to do a PhD in History, just so I can call myself Dr Mod.

I am a keen football fan, suffering through supporting Man Utd at the moment, as well as Kings Lynn Town FC. I have been lucky enough to coach several local teams over the years both with school and sunday league and hope this will continue until dream number 2, manager of Man Utd comes true.

I love reading, and collecting books, I have managed to collect a fair few; and counting, all ready for my library or drawing room when I finally buy my mansion.
